Maurice and Kristinas wedding. I’m not quite sure how to put it into words! What a fantastic day! Russian Orthodox wedding photography is a personal favourite, I love the churches and the ceremonies. Mix that with Nigerian wedding customs and it is bound to lead to something that was, for me at least, completely unique. I met up with Kristina at the Gore Hotel in Kensington for the bridal preparations where she was getting ready in the Judy Garland suite. A really beautiful, opulent room with Judy Garlands bed in it! Here we met up with Maurice and drove over to St James Park for some pre-wedding photos as there wasn’t going to be enough light after the ceremony. With Kristina in her beautiful wedding dress and Maurice dressed up in his wedding attire, we certainly attracted a crowd outside of Buckingham Palace!!
We then went over to the Russian Cathedral of the Dormition in Ennismore Gardens for the ceremony. One of my favourite things about Russian Orthodox Weddings is the churches and cathedrals themselves, they tend to be absolutely stunning and this was no exception. The other thing I love is the service itself, the whole thing is sung with a choice in the background making it a very moving experience. I do tend to feel sorry for the maid of honour and the best man during the Crowning ceremony. Having to hold the crowns above the heads of the bride and groom for a pretty reasonable length of time, you can see their arms shaking as they suffer, it does look fantastic though!
After the ceremony we went over to the Millennium Gloucester Hotel in Kensington for the reception. From the outside, what you would never guess is that it surrounds a beautiful pyramid style conservatory, complete with real palm trees! Once decked out for a wedding it is really really beautiful. Here we saw much dancing, singing, bread eating, more dancing, drum playing, bridal kidnapping (yes – they stole the bride!), a bit more singing, piano solos, the list goes on. It was fabulous fun and the time really flew by.
An absolutely great time was had by all, I hope the images convey just how good it was.

What a totally cool wedding to be given the opportunity to cover. Love the different cultures coming together, makes for some stunning images Chris, lots of great moments, vibrant colours and emotions. Good work mate.
Wow. Gorgeous work. I was born in Nigeria, and though our wedding didn’t look like this, this certainly brought back memories.
Great collection of images, so colourful, lovely stuff!
Wow!!! Yes still in awe at such beautiful union and mix of culture. Pics just bring back memories of that day like it was just happening now.
Banky & Kristina congrats again!!!
There is professional, and there it sheer brilliance. This combines both, ‘and then some’! As the Best man and MC at this wedding, I must say these photos speak volumes. Congratulations again to Maurice and Kristina.
