I was really pleased when Georgina and Christo booked me to photograph their Ham Polo Club Wedding. It’s one of my favourite venues with loads of open space and a feeling of being out in the country despite being in London!
We started off the day at the Bingham Hotel in Richmond for the bridal preparations. Located right on the River Thames it has stunning views over the River. When I arrived there was a really relaxed vibe in the room as Georgina was having her makeup done and appreciating the sunshine pouring in through the windows. A distinct lack of stress and drama ensued as everything went smoothly and Georgina was ready right on schedule, giving me plenty of time to get to Kingston before the ceremony.
The ceremony itself was at the Greek Orthodox Church of St George, just outside of Richmond Park. It was the first time I had photographed a Greek Orthodox wedding, which I was really looking forward to. It was very similar in a lot of ways to the Russian Orthodox weddings I have shot before so I at least had an idea of what was coming which was handy. The ceremony lived up to expectations and was really lovely and seemed to fly by. We then headed outside whilst everyone congratulated the happy couple before we moved on to Ham Polo Club.
The skies were blue, the sun was shining and everyone got to take advantage of the roof terrace during the reception before heading in for the wedding breakfast. Once the meal was over it was time for the speeches, which were fantastic, followed by everyone heading onto the dance floor. Music for the evening was provided by an utterly superb live band called Hipster, I would say they were probably the best live band I have seen at a wedding (and I’ve seem some great ones). It was great for me as the dance floor was packed solid and it was a fantastic end to an outstanding day.
Below are some of my favourites from the day, please feel free to leave a comment! If you are getting married at Ham Polo Club and are looking for a photographer, please get in touch and I would love to have a chat!
