Although they booked me sometime last year as their Bix Manor Wedding Photographer, I only met up with Clare and Will a couple of weeks before the wedding. It was great to meet up with them and it became obvious from the first moment that their wedding was going to be my absolutely favourite kind of wedding where the couple really just want to enjoy their day and for the guests to do the same. The fact they had brewed their own beer at the Loddon Brewery was only a small hint in all this! What can I say, it lived up to expectations and beyond, it was an absolute blast.
The bridal preparations started at Bix Manors beautiful Manor House, just outside Henley on Thames. When I arrived all was going well, everything was remarkably relaxed and going smoothly. As has become the norm these days I started off with the Fuji X100. The small size of the camera and the near silent operation really helps in the early parts of the day when people are getting used to having me around. Everything went without a hitch and before we knew it it was time to leave for St Andrews Church in Sonning on Thames. It’s a very beautiful church and it was nice to be back (I shot Tiyo and Andys wedding there last year). The initial arrival was dampened a little by a rain storm so severe I was wondering if I could shoot the ceremony from the dry sanctity of my car rather than having to get out and run through it. Thankfully it stopped and that was pretty much the last we saw of the rain other than a couple of showers here and there.
With the ceremony complete it was back over to the Tithe Barn at Bix Manor for the wedding reception. After some time enjoying the sunshine in the gardens it was inside for the wedding breakfast. The barn looked amazing with beautiful fairy lights draped the length of the barn.
The evening was kicked off with Barn Dancing which always yields some great photos, this was followed by some Jagerbombs, some 80’s power ballads and a packed dance floor. It was a brilliant day and a superb evening. As always, I have posted some of my favourite images from the day and comments and shares are very welcome!
