On the drive down to Charlotte and James’ Great Barn Wedding in Rolvenden, Kent, the skies were looking a little ominous to say the least (and the trees were almost horizontal in the wind). I’d been really lucky with the weather this year and was praying this was not the day for my luck to end!
I wasn’t covering bridal preparations in the morning so it was straight to the barn for me to meet up with James who, with the help of a few others, was putting the finishing touches to The Great Barn. It looked fabulous inside and there was plenty of room for the guests to mingle if the weather didn’t play ball but fortunately the clouds were starting to part and Charlottes arrival was accompanied by some glorious sunshine!
We headed inside for the ceremony in the raised part of the barn which had been beautifully decorated with flowers and fairy lights. The ceremony and readings were followed by a return to the great outdoors where everyone mingled, chatted and enjoyed basking in the sun.
A fantastic hog-roast and a superb set of speeches preceded Charlotte and James’s first dance, done to one of my all time favourite tracks – You’ve Got The Love by Florence and the Machine! What a superb way of kicking of the evenings party!
It was a brilliant day and everybody seemed to be in great spirits making it a real pleasure to photograph.
As is the norm, below are some of my favourites shots to tell the story of their day. Please feel free to share the link, and comments are very much appreciated.
If you are looking for a documentary wedding photographer and want to have a chat, please get in touch and we can talk about your day!
