Got myself a new lens yesterday, a Sigma 24-70mm f/2.8 and went in to town to test it and my Christmas present (a new tripod) out. Typically, after a beautifully clear sky all day, it clouded over once the sun went down, which in London means orange skies from all the light pollution so didnt get very many shots. I did like this one though, and think the lights of the bus going over the bridge finished it nicely

Lovely shot. I personally would have bracketed to retain the clock face detail, otherwise I love it.
You can probably get the detail back just by using a layer mask and the "shadows/highlights" function. I don't think they're totally blown out, but it is one of the main features of the photo.
Otherwise I love it. The bridge and the water look great. 613photo @ 30th December, 2008
A truly beautiful shot. The composition is very good. Just the clock of the Big Ben is a bit over exposed, besides that it is all great. (The over exposure can be avoided by taking multiple exposures and blending them together; this will yield the same kind of wow effect but with less highlight clipping).
I wish you lots of fun with your new tripod. It gives you many extra creative possibilities. I just hope you won't have (too many) problems with security. LightningPaul @ 1st January, 2009
